Not every concrete problem is structural. Sometimes the slab is perfectly solid but the surface has simply had it — the finish is spalling and flaking off, the color is stained and blotchy, or years of Houston sun and weather have left it tired and rough. For those cases, resurfacing is the answer. We clean and profile the existing concrete, repair minor surface defects, and apply a thin bonded overlay that becomes the new wearing surface. The result looks fresh and can be finished smooth or with texture, and it costs a fraction of demolishing and repouring the slab. It's the cosmetic-and-durability counterpart to our leveling work: leveling fixes a slab that has moved; resurfacing renews a slab whose surface has worn out.

There's a right order to concrete work, and it matters for how long the result lasts. If a slab has settled or has a void beneath it, that has to be corrected first — you can't put a durable new surface on top of concrete that's still moving or unsupported, because the overlay will crack right along with the slab. So when a slab is both sunken and surface-worn, we level it or fill the void underneath first, establishing a stable base, and then resurface on top of that. Done in that sequence, you get a slab that's both level and renewed. A word on honesty: resurfacing is only the right recommendation when the underlying slab is genuinely sound — if the concrete is badly broken up or actively failing, we'll tell you that an overlay would just be covering a problem, and point you to the repair or replacement that actually fits.
Resurfacing applies a thin, bonded overlay over existing concrete to renew a surface that's worn, spalled, or stained. Instead of demolishing and repouring, the old slab is cleaned and prepped and a new wearing surface is applied on top — restoring the look at a fraction of replacement cost.
The slab needs to be structurally sound. Surface problems — spalling, worn finish, discoloration, minor cracks — are good candidates. If the slab has sunk or has deep structural cracks, we address that first with leveling or repair, because an overlay can't fix a slab that's still moving underneath.
Level first, then resurface. Lifting a settled slab back to level corrects the underlying support and geometry; resurfacing then renews the surface on a stable base. Doing them in that order is what makes the finished result last.
